The Clowns will embark on the Massive Riddle Box Tour in May and follow it up with a Canadian Invasion – not all the press is excited about it, Canadian based publication “The Rebel” was quick to fire off that maybe Tax Dollars shouldn’t be paying for a event that hosts the clowns!
For the past few years, Rockfest, a music festival in Monticello, has received funding from the Quebec government.
While last year’s event featured the likes of Linkin Park and System of a Down, this year’s event features multiple punk rock and metal bands as well as hip hop duo ‘Insane Clown Posse’.
The group, which emerged from Detroit in 1989, is composed of two grown men who dress as clowns preform a style of hip hop called ‘horrorcore’.
Its two members go by the personas of ‘Violent J’ and ‘Shaggy 2 Dope’.
In 2013, the duo was named the ‘worst rappers of all time’ by GQ magazine.
And they were named one of the ’15 most hated bands in the last 30 years’ bySalon.
Last year, Rockfest’s found Alex Martel told the state broadcaster that the festival receives $65,000 a year from Tourism Quebec.
Martel even said that the festival was promised 10 times that amount.
Should your tax dollars go towards a festival where ‘the most hated band in the world’ is scheduled for perform?
