Taylor Schilling set to star in New Movie “Fam-i-ly”

Heavily Juggalo Influenced

As Reported by:  HollyWoodReporter.com

Taylor Schilling has closed a deal to star in the indie Fam-i-ly, the directorial debut of writer Laura Steinel, perhaps best known for her work on Amazon comedy Red Oaks.

Sue Naegle and Jeremy Garelick are producing.

The script, which was written by Steinel, centers on the relationship between an emotionally stunted aunt (Schilling) and her 13-year-old niece, who wants nothing more than to run away from home and become a juggalo. A juggalo is a term used for extreme fans of a subset of hip-hop who have developed their own social group and lingo. (Yes, it’s a real thing.)

Steinel is carving her own niche in the comedy world with her writing and has several projects set up around town. The biggest among them is Women in Business, in development at Fox with Emma Stone, Kate McKinnon and Jillian Bell attached to star.

Schilling is the lauded star of Netflix’s drama Orange Is the New Black, which wraps production on its fifth season this week. She will shoot The Public, a much anticipated ensemble drama to be directed by Emilio Estevez, this winter before starting Fam-i-ly. The actress also has a couple of movies in the can: sci-fi pic The Titan, which also stars Sam Worthington, and Take Me.

Schilling is repped by Gersh and 3 Arts. Steinel is repped by UTA and Principato-Young Entertainment.
