Florida’s Biggest Rock Experience
Will Move To Its New Home In Daytona Beach, Florida
May 8, 9 & 10, 2020

Premier independent festival producer Danny Wimmer Presentsannounces a brand new location for the 2020 edition of Welcome To Rockville. The 10th year of Florida’s Biggest Rock Experience will be held at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida on Friday, May 8, Saturday, May 9 & Sunday, May 10, 2020.

After nine years at Jacksonville’s Metropolitan Park, Welcome To Rockville will be moving to the world famous Daytona Beach for the festival’s 10th year. As a result of Jacksonville’s continued development of the city’s downtown area, Metropolitan Park is no longer available to host the annual festival. After welcoming sold-out crowds of 90,000-plus the past three years, the move to Daytona International Speedway will allow Rockville to increase its audience capacity while at the same time providing more enhanced audience experiences.

A recent $400 million dollar renovation of the Speedway and additional $200 million invested in the surrounding area in recent years has transformed the destination into a world-class facility, including numerous hotels within walking distance, many dining options and expanded space for camping, allowing Rockville attendees a convenient and well-rounded experience.

Welcome To Rockville might be leaving Jacksonville, but I’m not leaving Jacksonville behind,” says Danny Wimmer, founder of Danny Wimmer Presents. “This is where it all began – not just for Rockville, but for me. I love my hometown, and I’m really proud of what Rockvilleaccomplished in its nine years in Jacksonville. Unfortunately, there was no longer a space at Metropolitan Park for us to deliver the kind of festival experience that Florida’s rock fans deserve. I’m excited to have a larger site to work with that allows us the room to continue growing the festival experience. I hope all of our Jacksonville friends will join us in this next phase of Welcome To Rockville’s evolution.”

Daytona International Speedway will serve as a great destination for Welcome To Rockville,” Track President Chip Wile said. “The facility is home to motorsports’ biggest events, and we’re excited to add this major music festival to our event calendar. The facility provides all the amenities and camping needs for guests while they enjoy a star-studded music lineup, all with the ‘World Center of Racing’ serving as the backdrop.”

More details, including an incredible music lineup for the 10thannual festival, will be announced in the coming months.

Welcome To Rockville continues to grow, and had its biggest year ever in 2019 with 99,000 in attendance over a sold-outweekend, May 3, 4 & 5 at Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville. The 9th annual festival featured some of the biggest names in rock, with Tool, Korn, Rob Zombie, Judas Priest, Incubus, Evanescence, Shinedown, Bring Me The Horizon and Chevelle leading a lineup of over 50 music artists.

Welcome To Rockville is produced by Los Angeles-basedDanny Wimmer Presents, one of the largest independent producers of destination music festivals in America. Additional DWP events include Aftershock Festival, Bourbon & Beyond, Chicago Open Air, Epicenter Festival, Hometown Rising, Louder Than Life, and Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival.

Daytona International Speedway is located at 1801 West International Speedway Blvd, in Daytona Beach, Florida. It’s just minutes away from the Daytona Beach International Airport, and less than two hours from Jacksonville and Orlando.

In 2016, the Speedway completed a $400 million renovation that transformed the venue into a state-of-the-art motorsports facility and garnered the SportsBusiness Journal’s prestigious Sports Business Award for Sports Facility of the Year. Opening recently across the street from Daytona International Speedway is ONE DAYTONA, a 300,000-square-foot retail, dining and entertainment district, along with two Marriott hotels and luxury apartments coming soon.

BATUSHKA SHARE NEW SONG + VIDEO FOR “LITURGIYA” — WATCH + LISTEN

NEW ALBUM HOSPODI OUT JULY 12 VIA METAL BLADE RECORDSEmerging from the shadows of eastern Poland back in 2015, black metal bandBatushka have established themselves as one of the modern era’s most powerful and evocative bands. Harnessing the fire and fury of arcane black metal and channeling it through the reverberant grandeur of ancient rituals of worship, the band’s debut album Litourgiya stood apart from the extreme metal hordes: a monument to originality, depth and dark mysticism that swiftly cast its spell over the metal underground and beyond. The band will release its sophomore album Hospodi through Metal Blade Records on July 12. The album is available for pre-order herehere, or here.

Batushka have just unleashed the third track from the album in the form of “Liturgiya.” Watch and listen here.

The band previously shared the song and video for”Polunosznica” and for “Wieczernia.”

Both tracks appear on Hospodi.Named after an Old Church Slavonic word for “God,” Hospodi enhances all the unique qualities that made the band such an instant phenomenon, while offering an entirely distinct and fresh sensory experience. The album boasts the most ferocious and bewitching songs the band has penned to date — along with a newfound sense of rock swagger.

“The whole album is a concept based on the Liturgy of Death, the prayers for the dead, and Orthodox funeral rites and dirges,” said the band. “It’s all about a ritual that involves the dead and the mourners. We also used a lot of old folk songs and elegies from our homeland. These are sung during the wake, around the casket, in the deceased person’s home. Nowadays, only a few older people know them and still sing them accordingly in our region. We decided to cherish that tradition and I’m glad that with our album these songs and rites will survive.”

“Wieczernia”
“Powieczerje”

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE ANNOUNCE ATONEMENT

NEW ALBUM TO BE RELEASED AUGUST 16 ON METAL BLADE RECORDS

BAND DROPS NEW SINGLE “UNLEASHED” — LISTEN

Grammy-nominated and Gold-selling hard rock heavyweights Killswitch Engage have announced their eighth album Atonement, out August 16 on Metal Blade Records. The album is available for pre-order here.

The band has also shared the first song “Unleashed,” which premiered on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal and Octane. Watch the visualizer for the song here.

“‘Unleashed’ is about inner passion and rage coming up to the surface,” said singer Jesse Leach. “We all have that wild within that often stays dormant until a tragic event triggers and awakens it. This song is about that awakening within. I feel we were able to capture something raw and intense on this song and I’m stoked for everyone to hear it! The new album Atonement is a reflection of perseverance and passion through the trials and suffering of our existence.”

Indeed, Atonement is the culmination of a trying and turbulent two-year period. KsE started kicking around ideas for the album as early as 2017. The band recorded the bulk of the material separately on both coasts. However, in the middle of the process, a polyp developed scar tissue in Leach’s throat, forcing him to undergo surgery. The intense three-month recovery ended with speech therapy, vocal therapy, and scream therapy. The band ultimately emerged with an album that is further evidence of their undeniable legacy as one of the most enduring metal bands of the last two decades and beyond.

The elaborate illustration on the Atonement album cover was created by none other than talented UK based artist Richey Beckett (Metallica, Mastodon) with the band’s own Mike D’Antonio handling art direction and layout duties.
ATONEMENT TRACK LISTING:
1. “Unleashed”
2. “The Signal Fire” [Featuring Howard Jones]

GRAYSCALE ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM NELLA VITA OUT SEPTEMBER 6 VIA FEARLESS RECORDS

BAND PREMIERES VIDEO FOR NEW SONG “IN VIOLET” AT POPCRUSH — WATCH + LISTEN

Philadelphia’s Grayscale will release their second album Nella Vita on September 6 through Fearless Records. The band has premiered the video for the new single “In Violet” at PopCrush.

Watch and listen here.

The track underscores what could be a morbid theme with lush keys, a sweeping riff, a horn section, and an ultimately life-affirming hook: “Bury me in violet / Leave this wonderful place.”

Vocalist Collin Walsh told PopCrush, “When I die, I want people to celebrate my life and enjoy each other’s togetherness, rather than mourn my death in a miserable way. I’ve dealt with a lot of loss and long episodes of grief the past couple of years, and it made me realize how much it can wear on you. When I go, I want everyone you to celebrate, sing, laugh, and dress in violet.”

The singer furthered, “We’ve been keeping quiet for a while. Now it’s time for you to hear our second release. You’re going to dance, laugh, and cry all at the same time.”

Under a heavy influence of everything from ’90s rock to funk, as well as a rotation of modern hip-hop and R&B, Grayscale dove headfirst into writing Nella Vita. At the top of 2019, the band traded its hometown of Philadelphia for Austin, Texas, holing up in the Machine Shop alongside producer MACHINE [Lamb of God, As It Is, Armor For Sleep, Four Year Strong]. The resulting collection of tracks is one that sees the band chronicling life, its many facets, and its many complications, as they themselves have experienced.

“In Violet” follows the bittersweet first single “Painkiller Weather,” which is a story about being in love with someone who is unable to free themselves from their vice. Watch the video here

Throughout Nella Vita, the quintet explores themes of sex, drugs, death, despair, and everything that embodies life, through a lens that, though far from rose-tinted, finds a lot of positivity in surviving the darkest of experiences. The title of the record and its 12 tracks are a veritable journey that’s both pensive and cathartic. Grayscale manage to bring out the light in the dark and much of the album taps a pop sensibility that will have you singing along and empathizing with the lyrics in no time.

“It’s really personal,” explains Walsh about Nella Vita. “The music provokes a lot of visuals, because it’s very conversational, real, and romantic. I suppose that’s just how I write. The songs capture the spectrum of emotions that you experience in life, and real experiences like love, sex, being a teenager, addiction, pain, joy, grief, death, and everything. Life isn’t just one thing; neither is music. We’re a rock band, but we want people to dance, laugh, cry, and have fun.”NELLA VITA TRACK LISTING:
1. “Just Right”
2. “Baby Blue”
3. “In Violet”
4. “YOUNG”
5. “Twilight (My Heaven)”
6. “Old Friends”
7. “Painkiller Weather”
8. “What’s on Your Mind”
9. “Asbury”
10. “Desert Queen”
11. “In My Arms”
12. “Tommy’s Song”

There is still hope for the hip-hop legend Bushwick Bill, as it would appear that even some of his closest associates were given misleading information, which in turn spread very quickly.

Again, from TMZ

8:55 AM PT — Bill’s publicist tells TMZ he is “still alive and fighting cancer” in a hospital. She says she spoke to hospital staff to confirm, and says some of Bill’s family members are by his hospital bedside right now. Others are on their way.

As for why so many of Bill’s friends, including Scarface, are posting that he’s passed — the publicist says someone got incorrect information which is spreading like wildfire.

The rumors were likely stirred by Bill’s absence from a Saturday night Dallas gig. He was scheduled to make a special performance, but was unable to make it because he was hospitalized.

Bushwick Bill, one third of iconic rap group the Geto Boys, is in bad shape … but still battling with pancreatic cancer.

We pray he pulls through,

Update: Bushwick Bill is still alive, but was hospitalized and is in critical condition; more details here.

It is with a heavy heart we bring you this news, but Richard Stephen Shaw, better known to the hip-hop world as Bushwick Bill of Geto Boys, has passed away at the age of 52 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

From TMZ:

Bushwick Bill, one third of iconic rap group the Geto Boys, is dead after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

TMZ broke the story … Bill was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in February. Just last month, he told us he was undergoing intensive chemotherapy, and had hoped to get back on the road.

Bushwick Bill, Scarface and Willie D became the Geto Boys in Houston back in 1988 and signed with J. Prince‘s Rap-A-Lot Records. Just a few weeks ago, the rap trio was trying to put together a reunion, but it fell apart at the last minute.

As we first reported, Bill had a falling out with tour organizers … feeling like they were exploiting his cancer diagnosis to sell tickets. He was especially bent out of shape with the mini-tour’s title, “The Beginning of a Long Goodbye: The Final Farewell.”

Promoters pulled the plug on the tour on the eve of its launch. However, Bill told us he wanted to do a 20-city solo tour called “Phuck Cancer” … and planned to donate a portion of proceeds to pancreatic cancer patients in each city.

Houston hip-hop icon Bun B paid tribute on Twitter, saying Bushwick “will always be a legend.”

Bushwick Bill was 52.

RIP

Bushwick Bill and Geto Boys were scheduled to perform at the 20th Annual Gathering of the Juggalos, no word at this time what will come of the performance after this tragic news.

Rest in peace Little Billy.
