Turning our attention to a more serious subject, Jumpsteady received an email about a week ago from the mother of a fresh ass ninja named Joe, who was apparently in the ICP/Twiztid “American Psycho” tour documentary. I could never in a million years duplicate the emotion and sincerity that Joe’s mom sent in the email, so I’m just going to copy and paste it here. First time I read it, I got choked up. No joke. Here’s what she sent Jumpsteady:
I am writing to you about a young man, a Juggalo in the Denver area that needs help. I understand Juggalos are really a family; anywhere you are you can depend on these brothers and sisters when you need them. Joe has been part of this family for many years; he is even in your documentary American Psycho, which he is still really proud of. Joe will literally give the shirt off his back to a brother in need; he has done so many times. Right now Joe is the one that needs all the help he can get. I am hoping maybe you can help us share Joe’s story. We have set up a crowd funding page for him on GoFundMe https://www.gofundme.com/jx396efg . I know that if we can just reach enough people we will be able to raise the money he needs to get this treatment he so desperately wants and needs.
Joe fell from a tree two years ago and broke his back during a camping trip and damaged his spinal cord leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Living life in his wheelchair has been a life changing experience yet it hasn’t slowed Joe down much. He still lives life to the fullest and remains positive and hopeful for the future. Since the accident Joe has never lost hope that he will one day walk again so we have done extensive research on possible treatment options. He has found a facility in Thailand that offers the kind of treatment that could help Joe regain some function that was lost when his spinal cord was damaged. They have reviewed his medical history and believe he is a great candidate for treatment with a good chance of regaining some function.
The only thing Joe needs now is financial assistance to get there and his treatment can begin. We have set up crowd funding page for him on gofundme.com (gofund.me/jx396efg . ) Family, friends, and friends of friends are doing their best to get the word out to as many people as they can to better the chances of Joe getting the help he needs. We know he will need approximately $65,000, this includes the treatment in Thailand and travel expenses for Joe and his friend that will accompany him and assist him along the way.
I am asking for your help in getting Joe’s story out to the family. I know that if more people hear about Joe’s wish to someday walk again he could get the financial help he needs.
Sincerely,
Ann B. (Joe’s mom)
Pretty powerful and affecting story, right, fam? So it’s been decided that this year’s portion of the proceeds raised at the Gathering of the Juggalos auction–every year, we donate 25% of the funds raised to charity–will be donated to our homie Joe to send him to Thailand to receive the surgery he needs to walk again.
In the meantime, please consider donating $5 or $10 to the Go Fund Me Campaign set up by Joe’s mom. This is what separates the Juggalo family from the typical fanbase–when one of our own needs assistance, we united and try to help them. So this year, let’s help Joe walk again. That’s it for this week, fam! The Riddle Box Tour kicks off May 5 so with that I bid you adieu–I have to get back to work.
